Well, RBW recently got a top cap from Recycled Cycles with that philosophy and put it on his Black Mountain Cycles MonsterCross. He then decided to test this philosophy to the extreme to see if it holds water. So he went on a 300K brevet (A No Work and All Play day) with Seattle International Randonneurs and you know what he discovered? RBW recently rebuilt some Campy ergo 10-speed shifters. Taking apart is pretty simple. Putting back together properly is a bit tricky. Fortunately, @Campagnolo has posted some videos with clear graphics, and you don't have to understand Italian! 

Late last Fall, Road Bike Wrench paid a call to what some would call the worldwide HQ of retro-grouch cycling, Rivendell Bicycle Works. Located in Walnut Creek, CA, Rivendell owner Grant Peterson has been a proponent of practical cycling ever since he was a product manager at Bridgestone many years ago. Road Bike Wrench assisted Dave with restoring a 1966 Schwinn Paramount. Dave bought the frame in pretty rough shape, stripped it, repainted it, put on new transfers and clear coat. When ready, he brought it to RBW's shop for a build with an appropriate Campagnolo Record and Nuovo Record groupset, which RBW helped Dave procure.
